2016: A year in review

28 December 2016

2016 is coming to an end. Time to look back, and of course to look ahead towards 2017.

Terrorism. Brexit. The election of Trump. The death of icons like David Bowie, Mohamed Ali, Johan Cruijff, George Michael, Nancy Reagan and, in his own league, Fidel Castro. 2016 was the year of slow economic recovery. It was the year of fake news. It was the year virtual reality was going to go big, but didn't.

At Scrn, 2016 was an exciting year as well.

We changed our name, from Wow!works to Scrn, to better reflect what we do. We committed to a profit ceiling of 10%, so our public sector clients get access to more creative capital for less money.

We renewed our cooperation with the organisers of the Eurovision Song Contest for another three years - a jewel on the crown while celebrating ten years of cooperation. As the contest's official online agency, we are determined to help take the contest to the next level. We helped the contest generate more than 3 billion online impressions, and saw more than 500 million video views on the contest's official YouTube channel which we manage.

We strengthened our cooperation with P World, one of the world's most ambitious event agencies, and contributed to their events in Reykjavik, Istanbul, and Montreal, amongst others. I also had the privilege to contribute to their highly anticipated publication The Little Blackbook of PR, which came out in September and made it to #5 on the Amazon.com bestselling business books list.

We were nomiated for a Webby Award, the 'Oscar of the Internet', and won a Golden Lovie Award, its European equivalent.

Our team expanded with Lilly, Robert, Sherida, Stephan and Stijn.

In 2017, we are eager to welcome new clients, to share our creative and strategic resources with them, to help them solve digital problems and elevate their online profile. We are eager to explore and discover, to learn and to grow. In case you are looking for a reliable digital agency to partner with, let's talk. Give us a call on +31 (0)20-8946498 or drop us a line on mail@scrn.com.

On behalf of the entire team I would like to thank you for your commitment and wish you, your loved ones and colleagues, a fantastic new year.
