Take what you know about the Eurovision Song Contest, replace the contestants with some of Europe’s best amateur choirs and voila, the Eurovision Choir of the Year competition is born! The very first edition took place in Riga, Latvia last month, and at Scrn we were proud to be on board as the official digital agency of the latest addition to the Eurovision Family of Events.
As the official digital agency for Eurovision Choir of the Year, Scrn was responsible for the website EurovisionChoir.tv, as well as the official social media channels. Our focus was primarily on Facebook, where over 100,000 people joined, as well as on Twitter. We also managed the official YouTube channel for the event and were responsible for the global live streaming of the show.
Eurovision Choir of the Year is of course all about the musicians and during the event week met the choir members. Being responsible for content creation, our on-site team in Riga produced backstage video content, including interviews with the presenters and organisers.
Slovenia won the first ever competition with Wales and Latvia finishing in second and third respectively. "We are proud to have contributed to the success of the first ever Eurovision Choir of the Year and to serve the EBU and the Eurovision Family of Events," says Paul Jordan, Scrn’s Project Leader responsible for the Eurovision account. "We are already looking forward to the next Eurovision Family Event, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest which will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia, in November!"
