To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest, we teamed up with Barcelona-based agency Elespacio to create a spectacular online journey back in time.

In the lead-up to the 60th Eurovision Song Contest, the EBU decided to commission the creation of an online experience to celebrate the contest’s rich legacy.

For several months, our editorial team went through the contest's paper and digital archives, and reached out to fans and broadcasters who could have had valuable Eurovision related material in their possession. After completing the editorial puzzle, the website brings together stories, photos, videos and statistics to tell the story of six decades of the most popular music competition in history.

The website was very deliberately designed for desktop and tablet, and not for smartphones, to allow visitors the richest possible experience.

The website, which went live in January 2015, was awarded with the FWA Site of the Day, the AWWWARDS Site of the Day, a CSS Design Award and a Golden Lovie Award, the European 'Oscars of the Internet'. The website was also nominated for a Webby Award in the category Event Websites.
